Business Analyst

What You Will Do:
The Business Analyst will be working on a project to implement capabilities for an enterprise financial software system and web application on an Agile product development team. They analyze requirements, develop user stories, and work closely with stakeholders, UX designers, application architect, and developers to ensure technical and system requirements are accounted for. The analyst will also work closely with the Scrum Master and Product Owner to plan and organize Sprints.
• Critically reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs, ultimately producing clear proposals, documentation, and/or deliverables.
• Lead small team of business analysts to delegate epics and stories for refinement.
• With product leadership, continually optimize business analysis and requirements gathering processes.
• Documents requirements and business workflows.
• Facilitates discussions with the right stakeholders to clarify the scope.
• Works closely with product owners and managers to convert business use cases into actionable tasks for the development team.
• Writes user stories.
• Ensures stories and tasks are complete prior to sprint planning.
• Applies analysis of business systems and software solutions to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of work processes for both current and future business needs.
• Leads and executes efforts to produce documentation related to system information architecture and processes which may include: technical requirements, functional specifications, data flow diagrams, high-level test cases, requirements traceability matrices, flow charts, wireframes/mockups, user stories, and use case documentation.
• Conducts presentations and communicates product features to both technical and non-technical communities and aids in the coordination and communication of cross-team initiatives.
• Paving and planning for technical project execution, tracking, presenting, and incorporating data-driven metrics to drive improvements, defining and recording current and future business processes and identifying potential improvements. The position will require working closely with Program and Project Managers and Project Architect / Technical Lead.
• During early project phase: Perform system analysis to define technical requirements, acceptance criteria, conceptual diagrams, flow charts, and use cases.
• Critically review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and customer needs, producing clear stories and documentation.
• Recommend and assist with the implementation of agile team structure Work with Architect / Tech Lead to plan for execution of technical Roadmap
• Liaise with internal and external project stakeholders to help coordinate agile across the large program
• Work with Product Owner to ensure a groomed, quality Agile backlog
• Maintain project life-cycle documentation and tactical and strategic project tracking systems, primarily Atlassian Confluence, Jira, and Portfolio
• Manage existing and define new process flows to identify improvement opportunities
• Prepare and deliver status updates, working sessions, and program area updates
What You Will Need:
• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust
• Bachelor’s degree
• FOUR (4) or more years of experience as a Business Analyst working on agile software development projects.
• Solid understanding of Agile development life cycle and knowledge in both Agile and traditional project management.
• Strong experience with modeling software such as Visio, Draw.io, or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate complex technical problems to a non-technical audience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Customer service oriented.
• Ability to maintain a big-picture vision while defining very detailed requirements.
• General understanding of DevOps culture and tools.
• Proficient with requirements-gathering tools.
• Experience with JIRA.
• Experience with Confluence.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
• Experience working on a pilot phase implementation, including the ability to interface with customer to help clearly define scope and requirements.
• Experience with federal government systems.
• Experience working on, coordinating, and communicating on cross-team initiatives.
• Familiar with information technology architecture, governance, and data exchange.
• Should be local to area and willing to onsite as needed.
